AS3745-2010 Planning for Emergencies in Facilities. As 1851-2012. Work Health and Safety legislation. Building Regulations.
Building owners and managers of workplaces have a legal and moral obligation to provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and free of risks to health, so far as is reasonably practicable.
According to Workplace Health & Safety Regulations in various states, those conducting a business or undertaking have a Duty of Care to prepare, maintain, and implement an Emergency Management Plan.
Training to be aware of emergency responses is very important for Australian workers. It helps them stay safe and ready at work. The training teaches the nominated Emergency Planning Committee (EPC) and Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) (aka Warden team) how to plan for emergencies and what to do in different emergency situations. The training covers aspects of the site's Emergency Management Plan.
It's vital to prominently display Evacuation Diagrams within the building as they offer occupants a clear visual guide to the layout and provide essential emergency response information.

Emergency Management Plan
An Emergency Management Plan (EMP) is a comprehensive document outlining the strategies, procedures, and responsibilities for responding to and recovering from emergencies within an organisation or community. These plans are essential for ensuring a coordinated and effective response to incidents such as fire, gas leaks/power outages, natural events, chemical spills, or personal threat situations.
While the exact requirements for EMPs may vary slightly between states and territories, they generally align with Australian Standard 3745-2010: Planning for Emergencies in Facilities, which provides guidelines for developing and implementing emergency plans for various types of facilities.
Emergency Response Awareness Training
Why is Emergency Response Awareness Training important?
Emergency response awareness training is essential for Australian workers to ensure workplace safety and preparedness. It equips employees with the knowledge and skills necessary to handle various emergency situations, potentially saving lives and minimising property damage.
Here are some key reasons why this training is crucial:
Compliance with Regulations ·· Protection of Lives and Property ·· Minimising Business Disruption ·· Enhancing Employee Morale ··Demonstrating Corporate Responsibility.
Evacuation Exercise (Fire Drill)
It is essential to perform a full site evacuation at least annually to increase staff awareness. We can provide guidance during the evacuation exercise as part of and following Emergency Response Awareness Training.
Rote training serves to make evacuation under a genuine situation smoother with the likelihood of confusion leading to panic greatly reduced.
